You may be picking figs for baking and to eat raw, but have you considered throwing them in to your smoothie?
I think I have picked figs from at least five different fig trees near me in the past few weeks so I definitely feel spoiled by this fruit right now! It wasn’t until the other day when I had leftovers after baking my fig and peach lemon tart that I decided to use them in a smoothie.
I knew the figs would be extremely sweet so I put in some spinach and another veggie to balance the blend. I had some carrots on hand and they were the perfect vegetable choice! Go green!
Of course I added a superfood to this as well. I feel it completes a smoothie, plus why not make what you are putting into your body as good for you as possible?! Maca was my superfood powder of choice for this fig smoothie. I also threw in some blueberries and then used some refreshing coconut water for my liquid.
This fig smoothie will be the first of many I am sure! If you want to thicken it up a little more I suggest some ground almonds. The flavor will compliment the rest really well I imagine, plus add in some extra protein. Drink up and let this mix of natural goodness satisfy your taste buds!
