Have you considered trying any make ahead meals to save time in the morning?
Meal prep isn’t just a health fad, it’s smart. One of the main things I do meal prep for is breakfast! It makes it so much easier in the morning when I am pressed for time to be able to just grab something pre-made that I can eat on the go. A particular favorite choice of mine is chia pudding.
I was first introduced to this idea when my husband and I went to visit his sister and she was making these for her and the kids. She does a parfait with granola and you can view the recipe over on her post on Plant Strong Mom’s blog. I really like the way the granola combines with the soaked chia seeds!
When I make mine I do small 4oz jars. Each jar I fill with about a 1/4 cup of milk (usually almond) and 2-3 tbsp of chia seeds. That’s really all you need, but I more often than not put about 1 tsp or so of matcha powder as well. Then I top with fresh fruit, nuts and seeds!
My favorite brand of chia seeds to buy is Spectrum. I also buy the powder form for smoothies!
You must chill your matcha chia pudding overnight in order for the chia seeds to soak up the milk and have the pudding thicken. It can be kept for a few days in the fridge. I usually add my desired mix-ins the day that I decide to take it for breakfast.
Try to add superfoods to your diet as often as possible!
There is definitely a reason behind this loaded matcha chia pudding being one of my go-to choices. Chia seeds are fantastically filling and do wonders for you! They are extremely nutritious since they are packed with protein, fiber, iron, polyunsaturated fats and many more benefits in higher amounts than other foods. Chia aids in weight loss since the addition of these seeds into your diet keeps you feeling full longer. Adding in the matcha gives you extra energy for the day ahead! These are some of the main purposes for eating matcha chia pudding first thing in the morning- simply beneficial.
I highly recommend investing in some matcha powder too. I add it into so many things I make because it gives a natural boost of energy! This is the brand that I use and a little bit goes a long way so it’s well worth having on hand.
There is so much you can do with this breakfast in a jar concept to really change it up each time so you never get bored. You can do different flavors and top it off with anything you wish! How do you prepare yours? Share more ideas below!
A set of small mason jars makes the perfect re-useable container for make ahead breakfast preps. I do overnight oats in these quite often as well!
