The most beneficial way to loose weight is not by eating less, but by eating right. My aunt is an eating disorder psychiatrist and she told me long ago that it is very important to eat multiple times a day, making sure that you are snacking in-between meals. Doing this gives you more energy, helps you maintain a good metabolism and keeps you from over-eating at your main meals. When you skip meals it triggers your body to store fat instead, resulting in the opposite effect people think they are achieving.
Maybe it’s because I am aware of this, or just the fact that I love food but I eat about two or three small snacks throughout the day around breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can’t understand those types of people who simply forget to eat. Even if I am busy I find a way to get some sort of substance into my body. Ever heard of hangry?! This happens because of a lack of nutrients and your brain reacts since your body depends on glucose.
I try as often as possible to plan my snacks ahead for the day (or week if I can) so that I can stay on track with my healthy eating habits. One of the easiest things to prep is trail mix. This can be made in bulk and divided up, plus there are numerous choices so it never gets boring! You can pick out your ingredients from cereal, nuts, dried fruits… the list goes on. The assortment that I am sharing with you this time is made up of banana chips, pumpkin seeds, almonds, raisins, dark chocolate chips and dried goji berries. I gathered everything separately from the health food section at the grocery store and combined it once home.
Snack list:
– banana chips
– dried goji berries
– almonds
– pumpkin seeds
– raisins
– dark chocolate chips
I’m sure this will be one of many quick snacking posts! I will admit that this is a favorite of mine I put together quite often. The benefits of everything included and the combination of sweet and salty mixed with crunchy and chewy is just too good to not continue making!
this sounds so temptingly delicious and great for all of us as well. thanks for sharing

[…] The key to putting these type of mixes together is to just hit up the section at the grocery store where you can get bags of different nuts and other various items, then put it all together in different assortments at home. Another that I love to make can be viewed here. […]
