One thing I push myself to do every few months is to try something I’ve never done before. I am involved in various fitness courses that I circulate throughout the month, and many of these started from this method.
You may never know a hidden talent you have or a passion inside of you unless you give yourself an avenue to discover it.
One of the best courses I’ve ever decided to take is Aerial Yoga. I love yoga and go to multiple types of classes, with hot power yoga being my favorite. The aerial course was always one of those that I put on my bucket list. One day I found a Groupon and thought, why not?? I can’t express enough how glad I am that I made that purchase!
The best part about Aerial Yoga is that you don’t need any previous experience in particular. There were about 20 people in the class and 14 of them had never tried it before. It doesn’t matter if you have ever taken dance or if you are necessarily athletic or flexible at all. With Aerial Yoga there are no restrictions of a certain body type either. I think people tend to limit themselves and just generally assume they can’t do something- but this type of fitness proves that anyone can give it a go.
It is so surprising to find what you are capable of…. it’s just a matter of facing your fear or putting yourself in a new position to do something you would normally put off. I personally am not one for heights and within just the first class I was up on the top of the fabric. I was so focused on mastering the technique that I wasn’t worried about things that would normally be overwhelming me.
The best part of Aerial Yoga is that it’s the perfect combination of difficult, relaxing and fun. I was sore in places the next day that I had never felt before, which proved it was a great workout! I signed up for just 4 classes but definitely plan on continuing in the future.
