One of the best additions to your diet is wheatgrass!
I’m obviously a lover of smoothies, especially because they can be so much more than just full of fruit! I take almost every opportunity to up my smoothie with a superfood or by making it green. Why not do both with one ingredient? This is where wheatgrass comes in as one of my most used add-ins.
Wheatgrass is known for it’s powerful healing qualities. It’s loaded with chlorophyll which does wonders for you, such as neutralizing toxins in your body and purifying your liver. Another reason to add this to your daily diet is that is contains over ten essential vitamins and minerals, along with many amino acids for added protein. Wheatgrass on its own is known as a nutritionally complete food. Need I say more?! In my opinion, making a wheatgrass smoothie is so much tastier than downing a shot of the straight juice.
Another way I make my morning smoothie as nutritional as possible is by throwing in some vegetables too.
Strictly using fruit can have a high sugar content, so it’s good to counter it with something else. Drinking up some vegetables can help curb cravings. The extra fiber will also help keep you full longer.
What protein powder are you adding in to your smoothies? My choice is a brand called Shakeology that has a variety of flavors. The best part about this additive is that it’s so much more than just a protein powder. It’s loaded with superfoods, vegetables and fruits!

I recently experimented with a little cucumber and tomato in my smoothie. This one came out light and refreshing! The combination may seem random, but it works.
My smoothies are pretty fruit-dominant besides my superfood additions and some spinach, so I try to discover new vegetable favorites to include. Lately it’s been butternut squash! The flavors in this one really compliment one another.
The next time you are at a loss for how to change up your smoothie try throwing a few veggies in the mix! Use this as the way to incorporate wheatgrass into your diet so you can benefit from this cleansing, anti-aging and energizing green!
The wheatgrass I mainly use is a powder and I like the Amazing Grass Organic brand.
